A unique show has been announced for the "Festival de la BD d'Angoulême" with Juano Guardino, Spanish illustrator and the co-author of the comic book series Blacksad.

THE PRIZE

July 2020 - THE PRIZE is born, a new rock band with Christophe Godin (Guitar, ex Gnô), Ivan Rougny and Aurel Ouzoulias (Satan Jokers) from prog jazz metal trio Mörglbl. Their debut album "The Prize" was released in April 2022 followed by their first video single "Blood Red Ink". The combo answered the call of French TV channel TF1 to perform on "Game of Talents" with their cover "My Way", rearranged for the show. 

More videos were released since then "Backstreet Chronicles", "Scarier than You", "Funhouse Mirror"...

Akoustik Thrill

She and Christophe Godin had always wanted to play together again, this concert led them to the formation of Akoustik Thrill, an acoustic duo paying tribute to Hard ‘n Heavy Rock music.

Maggy & Friends

In 2018, “Maggy & Friends”, featuring  musicians she had collaborated with before, including singer Kelly Sundown,  Steven Segarra (Wedingoth), François Brisk (Virus IV, Vital Breath), Yves Campion (Nightmare) opened up for Kip Winger at "La Source Fontaine" in Grenoble, performing acoustic versions of Nightmare songs.

September 2017 - She once again joined Arjen Lucassen’s cast to perform for the 3-night live Ayreon Universe concert, followed by Graspop in June 2018.

Nightmare

Oct 2015 - Maggy became the new vocalist of French band Nightmare. Their new album "Dead Sun" was mixed by Joost van den Broeck (EpicaBlind GuardianPowerwolfAyreon). Released by AFM Records on 26 November 2016 with videoclips "Ikarus" and "Serpentine" featuring singer Kelly Sundown. Her first performance with Nightmare was at Hellfest followed by European Tours and festivals such as Metaldays70 tons of MetalWacken CruiseSabaton Open AirMaximum Rock, Metal Blast Egypt...

Beyond the Bridge

2014 - She was tapped to replace female singer Dilenya Mar in the band Beyond the Bridge with Herbie Langhans (FirewindSinbreedVoodoo CircleAvantasia), opening for Serenity's "War of Ages European Tour" and later for Fish with singer Derek William Dick (Marillion).

Epysode

Maggy proved her talents as vocal coach, singer and melodist on EPYSODE-“Obsessions", a concept album released in 2011 at AFM Records . The album was recorded by Gerald Jans at Noise Factory Studio in Belgium and mixed and mastered by Tommy Hansen at Jailhouse Studios in Denmark. Epysode boasted an outstanding cast of musicians and vocalists, including Kristoffer GildenlöwLéo Margarit (Pain of Salvation), Christophe Godin (Möglbl, Gnô, Metal Kartoon), Julien Spreutels (Ethernity), Kelly Sundown (Beyond TwilightFirewind, Civil WarDarkologyAdagio), Oddleif Stensland (Communic), Liselotte Hegt (AyreonDial) and Rick Altzi (MasterplanAt VanceThunderstone). The official videoclip for the song "Obsessions" was directed by Damien Brunet where Luyten plays the character "Esh - The Soul".

Ayreon

In 2008 - She performed guest vocals for different projects, including Ayreon's "01011001". Arjen Lucassen remarked about her: "I kept bumping into Magali’s name in different bands, and I was so impressed with her voice every time I heard her. I knew I’d like to work with her one day… she is just amazing". She performed a live acoustic version of the song "Ride the Comet" at the Stairway to Heaven in Utrecht, Netherlands for Ayreon's release party in January 2008 with a.o. Floor Jansen (ex-After ForeverNightwish).

Beautiful Sin

Maggy played in several local bands before joining the progressive metal band Over Us Eden from Aachen, Germany in 2003, produced by Uli Kusch, (ex-drummer for Helloween and Masterplan). A few years later, she was asked by Kusch to be the vocalist for his solo project Beautiful Sin. She recorded her vocals in Belgium and then flew to Norway to finish the work at Kusch's studio with guitarist Jørn Viggo Lofstad (Pagan's MindJorn).

Beautiful Sin - "The Unexpected" was acclaimed by heavy metal fans and press worldwide. The tracks "Lost" and "Closer to My Heart" were featured on Nuclear Blast compilations Beautiful Voices II and III, AFM Records compilations All for Metal, and Gothic Melancholy Vol. XIX.

Maggy Luyten is a Belgian rock singer, musician and songwriter. 

Most known for her powerful, gritty and melodic vocal performances with Beautiful Sin, Ayreon and her current band The Prize.

Maggy is also an active vocal & artistic coach in MYRIAD VOICE. She was a contributing author in the 2nd edition of the book Raise Your Voice, by renowned vocal coach Jaime Vendera.

Born in Brussels on July 16th, she grew up in the Flanders then moved to Namur where she lives today.

Virus IV

Luyten continued to make a name for herself in the Belgian classic metal band Virus IV with Samuel Arkan and Renaut van Oeyen, François Brisk (ex-Dyslesia) and Christophe Babin (ex-Headline and Eradicate) with the album "Dark Sun", released on Thundering Records. In 2009, the songs "Frightening Lanes" and "Such a Shame" (cover of Talk Talk hit single) were selected by EMI Records to appear on the 3-CD compilation album "I Love New Wave" in France and in 2010 by Femme Metal Records for the compilation "Beauty and Brutality" in United Kingdom. 

 

Virus IV performed at many festivals including PPM Fest, Alcatraz, Raismes Festival, NamrockLoafRocksound and Durbuy Rock, opening for ScorpionsSaxon and Evergrey among others.
