Beautiful Sin was created by drummer and composer Uli Kusch, bringing together musicians from the international melodic metal scene. Maggy Luyten joined the project as its vocalist and recorded the album The Unexpected, released in 2006 through AFM Records.

The album combines melodic metal with elements of rock and progressive music, giving Maggy the opportunity to explore a powerful but highly versatile vocal approach.

Her contribution went beyond simply performing the songs: she also contributed songwriting and lyrics to several tracks. The Unexpected received strong international attention and became one of the important early releases in Maggy's professional career.
